Which exam should you take?

You can use your Cambridge Exam qualification for work or study purposes at the many educational institutions, businesses and government departments which accept them throughout the world. Or just use the preparation to improve your language skills, helping with life in an English-speaking country.

Frequently asked questions

When will I receive my results?
You will be able to see your results online on the Cambridge English website. You will receive information on how to register in your Confirmation of Entry letter. You will get an email telling you that your results are available. This is usually 4-6 weeks after your exam. Cambridge English will then send the certificates to Live Language in Glasgow who will post them out to you. It’s therefore very important that you complete your address correctly on your registration form.
What does my score mean?
Cambridge English has changed the way it reports the results and your scores are now linked to the Common European Framework (CEFR). You can find out more here. You will also receive information on the results that are specific to your exam when you book. When you book your test, you will receive a booklet on other frequently asked questions for the exam you are taking.

Gaining a Cambridge English: Preliminary (PET) qualification at Live Language in Glasgow shows that your English level is Intermediate (B1). This proves that you have the language skills to enjoy time spent in English-speaking countries. It is also the perfect preparation if you want to go for higher level exams such as Cambridge English: First (FCE) or Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) in the future. It lets you build exam techniques and allows you to become familiar with the format of the exam. Read more about the exam here

  • Because of procedural changes at Cambridge English, the registration deadline dates for the exams will likely change throughout 2017, and will vary from 4-6 weeks before the exam date. In order to avoid incurring late entry fees, we highly recommend that you REGISTER and PAY for your exam at least 6 WEEKS before the written exam date. Applications will incur a fee of £25 if made after the deadlines, and we cannot guarantee that we will be able to book an exam place.
  • We hope to offer the speaking exams on the same day as the written exam for your convenience. This is not always possible, but we will update the website if it is necessary to have the speaking exam on a different day.
  • There is a minimum of 4 candidates needed to run the exam. If there are not 4 candidates by the deadline date, we will inform you that we are unable to provide a test date for you.
  • Live Language is not currently offering the computer-based versions of the exams.
  • Please note that requests to change details on certificates or have replacement certificates sent will also incur fees. The charge will depend on the nature of the request.

The Cambridge English: First (FCE) is one of the most popular Cambridge exams. At Live Language in Glasgow, we have been teaching the exam for many years, and now you can also sit the official exam here. The Cambridge English: First (FCE) is becoming increasingly important in European countries for the purposes of work. It is recognised by educational institutes, Government departments and businesses throughout the world. Or use your skills to help you when travelling. The Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE) is the highest of the Cambridge English suite of exams and indicates an exceptional level of English. Having this certificate means that you can prove to employers that you are capable of functioning at a senior level, or show that you are able to cope with postgraduate level education in an English speaking environment.
