Why should I study the English for university course?
If you are coming to study English before doing a pre-sessional course or going direct to university, it is important that you prepare well.   You will need English study, IELTS preparation and academic skills.  Even if your level of English is low, it is essential that you work on all three areas if you want to succeed at university.
  What are the 2018 term dates?
  • 8th January – 30th March (12 weeks)
  • 16th April – 6th July (12 weeks)
  • 16th July – 24th August (6 weeks)
  • 25th September – 14st December (12 weeks)
*Please note:  25th September is a Tuesday.  Monday 24th is a school holiday.
Why are there term dates?
The course has set dates as we follow a curriculum to best prepare you for key events such as taking the IELTS exam or applying to university.  The English for University workshops build the skills you need for university throughout the course.  Towards the end of each term, there is a strong focus on university skills and writing practice.

9.00am - 12.15pmGeneral EnglishThis is an essential part of your course. This builds the foundation in English language you need to succeed.
1.00pm - 2.30pmAcademic SkillsThis part of the course has an academic focus. You practice a different skill each week, while developing your awareness of academic vocabulary and grammar.
2.45pm - 3.45pmEnglish for University WorkshopEach week you will cover a variety of skills to prepare you for what will be expected of you at university in the UK. The UK system may be significantly different from university education in your country.
The curriculum includes:

• Help with university selection and applications
