IELTS Preparation Course

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is recognised all over the world and can help people achieve their dreams.  Whether you need an IELTS score for university, work or visa purposes, we have an IELTS preparation course in Glasgow that suits not only your English level but also your timescale.  Our teachers have had considerable experience in teaching IELTS preparation courses and we’ve helped people from all over the world to get the score they needed.  We understand the pressure you are under when studying for the IELTS and have plenty of additional support services to help you.
Your IELTS course in Glasgow focuses on giving you the best strategies to make the most of your English level.  You’ll learn about each section of the exam and how to achieve the score you need in the writing and speaking using the examiner’s criteria.  You will have frequent tests so you can see your progress clearly, and identify the areas you need to work on. You can read the full course outline here.
We use our considerable experience in teaching IELTS to make sure that you progress as quickly as possible.  We understand that you might not have the level of English you need to get your IELTS score easily, so we give you strategies to maximise your performance with the English you do have.  We also make sure that you have all the support you need during your course.  With regular tutorials and testing, you’ll get frequent feedback from your tutor. Glasgow has some of the most famous universities in Scotland.  You can settle into our friendly city and improve your English before you start at one of our universities.
The IELTS is a difficult exam, particularly as it focuses on more academic-style language.  This means that you have to work hard outside class to make sure that you have the vocabulary and knowledge you need to succeed.
  • Make appointments with Kenny the Academic Support Tutor.  You can do a full speaking test or more writing practice – whatever you feel you need.
  • Read our blog – we often update it with tips and techniques to help with the IELTS exam.
  • Read as much as you can outside class.  A lot of students have problems in the writing and speaking sections of the exam as they don’t know enough about the topics.  Join English Club to practise your English in areas such as technology, education and health.
  • Borrow books and dictionaries from our library.  You can find a quiet place to study in our Self-Access Centre.  You’ll also find iPads there with lots of IELTS apps.

*Please note, the school requires sufficient student numbers to start a class, so some classes may be subject to cancellation or may not run all year round. The minimum number of group class size is 4 students. If a class does not have 4 students, then students will be given options to enable them to continue studying.  This may be converting the tuition fees to semi-private lessons or adding their name to a waiting list until the minimum number is reached.  Usually however, two similar levels are combined into one class to avoid disruption or inconvenience for the students.

Please read the Live Language Terms and Conditions before booking your course.

Live Language does not organise exams for students. Students should contact the exam test centre directly to enquire and organise any exams. Typical exam fee is £145. You can find more information here: http://www.gcu.ac.uk/study/ielts/

We also know that studying a language can be difficult and challenging and so we have a range of Support Services to help you progress as quickly as possible and make the most of your time with us. Try our Language Exchange Programme or get additional help from our Academic Support Tutor. We even arrange voluntary work with charities – all to help you improve your English.
