Are you studying for the IELTS Academic test at the moment?

From early next year, 2022, there is going to be an exciting new way for some people to take the test.

If you need to take the IELTS Academic test for visa or immigration purposes, you will still have to go to an IELTS test centre. However, other test takers will now have the option to take an online version of the Academic test. It will be called IELTS Online.

Test centre or online: This will give a new option for taking the test. You can go to a test centre and take the test with a pencil and paper, or you can take the test at home and use a computer. You choose the option that you find best for you! This will make it much easier for some people who are unable to travel to the test centre.

Results: One of the biggest benefits of the new IELTS Online is that the results will be available for you 3 -5 days after you take the test. This is much quicker than if you take the test at a test centre. The IELTS results are available for you to see online 13 days after you take the test at a test centre. The tests will still be marked by an official trained IELTS examiner, so it will be exactly the same standard.

Format: The new IELTS Online test will have the same format as the test that you take in the test centre, so you can prepare for it in exactly the same way, and you can use the same practice materials as before.  It tests the same four skills: reading; writing; speaking and listening. Reading, writing and listening are all done on the computer. For the speaking test, you will have a video call with a real live examiner.

Information: You can find the latest news about this if you follow IELTS on social media.

Good luck to you if you are studying for your IELTS test just now. Remember to keep practicing all the strategies and techniques that you have been studying with your teacher!
