Glasgow Voted the World’s Friendliest City!

Roughguides.com’s readers recently voted Glasgow the world’s friendliest city. While we at Live Language were not surprised about this ranking, we thought this would be a great opportunity to share with you why we think that Glasgow is not only the world’s friendliest city, but also the best place to learn English.

Education in Glasgow

Glasgow is home to several universities and colleges. The oldest of these, the University of Glasgow, was founded in 1451 and is ranked 14th in the UK’s Top Twenty Universities. If you would like to get a taste of what studying in Glasgow is like without signing up for a degree, we would love to welcome to Live Language, our friendly, professional and student-centred language school in central Glasgow.

Shopping in Glasgow

If shopping is your thing, Glasgow is the place to be! We have several shopping centres, both in and outside the city centre. In fact, we have the largest shopping area in the UK, outside London.

Culture in Glasgow

One of the best things about Glasgow is that most of our museums and art galleries are absolutely free! Some of the most popular places to visit are the Kelvingrove Museum, the Riverside Museum and the Gallery of Modern Art. So, not only is learning English in Glasgow one of the most cost-effective options in the UK, but you also often don’t need to spend any money on visiting our museums. A great and cheap way to learn more about our exciting city. This also means having more money left for entertainment and a chance to meet Glasgow’s friendly residents.

Entertainment in Glasgow

There really is something for everyone when it comes to entertainment in Glasgow. Glasgow is especially famous for its music scene. There are normally gigs on every night to suit different music tastes. You may find yourself in a small venue with 50 people or in a big venue like the Hydro which holds over 14,000 people! If you’re more into film than music, there are several cinemas to watch the latest blockbuster or independent film.
