Who accepts the OET in the UK? The OET is accepted by the Nurses and Midwifery Council (NMC) and General Medical Council (GMC) in the UK as an alternative to the IELTS exam. The English language requirements of the NMC are available here and GMC are here.
How is it different to the IELTS exam? OET differs from the IELTS because it uses real healthcare scenarios and assesses your ability to use English as a healthcare professional i.e. it is a test of your occupational English. The IELTS exam focuses on testing the level of your Academic English.
